Review - Nonton Movie21

An excellent film online Indonesia review; Nonton is a critically acclaimed film that was actually in development since 2020. Director, Jonathan Lai, was a child when the Asian tsunami struck. He was sent to a refugee camp in Thailand, where he met the 'Queen of Nonton', a local musician, who took him under her wing.

Jonathan Lai had been writing songs on the side for a long time, and so he was naturally talented as a musician. But when the concert tour came about, he and his family found they were homeless, and so, they were taken in by the local musician and her band.

The story goes that, after their lives were turned upside down, they were given accommodation in a hotel that was run by the very artsy group they had been trying to avoid. It is then that Jonathan Lai discovered the band, and the women he met there would give him his first opportunity to become involved with music.

For some unknown reason, the band saw Nonton Movie21 in him an almost alien force; someone who could potentially play their instruments and sing, and they invited him to join them. Thus began his friendship with the band, and soon, Jonathan Lai became one of their most valued members.

After playing with the group for some time, Jonathan Lai then joined another jazz fusion band in Jakarta, who had also become friends with the local musicians. Here, he began to make a name for himself, but, it wasn't long before he was being pursued by a bigger group.

Jonathan Lai became increasingly frustrated with the fact that, after two years, he hadn't managed to make any headway, and so, decided to leave the band, which he perceived to be threatening. He headed to Singapore, where he learned more about jazz fusion, and was soon put together with another band that gave him the chance to start creating music.

As a result, the movie Nonton was produced and was directed by Jonathan Lai. Nonton is a very well made film, and a serious production, considering its modest budget.

In conclusion, Jonathan Lai is a talented, gifted, and intelligent musician, who, although talented in his own right, knew that he needed to collaborate with other like-minded musicians, in order to improve as a musician, and he did. Thus, Nonton was the perfect outcome.
