Passport Service
Indonesian passports
are issued by the Government of Indonesia to its citizens residing in Indonesia
or abroad. The governing body with regards to such passports is the Directorate
General of Immigration (Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi) under the Ministry of Law
and Human Rights (Kementerian Hukum dan HAM).
An Indonesian passport is valid for travel in all countries worldwide. It is also the only international document that guarantees an Indonesian citizen's rights to stay in other nations without having to pay any fees paspor online.
Currently, there are
two kinds of Indonesian passports - the ordinary passport and the electronic
passport. Both types are available in the market and can be obtained by paying
through banks and ATMs, online marketplace (Tokopedia or Bukalapak), or by
cash.
Cover color: Prior to
30 October 2014, ordinary Indonesian passports were issued in a dark green
cover while the latest ones are now covered with turquoise green or hijau toska
colour. Unlike the previous versions, only the word 'passport' appears bilingually
(Indonesian and English) on page 2 of both passports, and the phrase 'Republik
Indonesia' does not appear in any version of these passports.
Translation: As per
the second quarter of 2015, ordinary Indonesian passports are now issued in a
bilingual form with English language on one side and Indonesian language on the
other side. The passports also have a small, transparent window that displays
the bearer's photograph and other personal information (such as name, birth
date and place of birth).
For Indonesian
migrant workers who work in a foreign country, the passport must be issued by
an authorized official and must be stamped with the approval letter from their
employer. In addition, a recommendation letter from the Provincial or
District/City Manpower Office must be attached with a copy of the migrant
worker's KITAS.
Visa-Free Entry for
US and Foreign Nationals: As of June 10, 2015, the government of Indonesia has
allowed United States citizens and foreign nationals of 45 countries to enter
Indonesia visa-free for stays of 30 days or less. This type of visa is not a
tourist or business visa, and can not be converted to any other immigration
permit.
To apply for this
visa, the applicant must be a legal resident of the United States and have an
Indonesian passport with remaining validity that is issued by the Embassy or
Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in the United States. The
applicant must provide one completed passport application, two identical,
recent passport-style photographs, and a computer-generated itinerary from a
travel agency or online booking tool showing departure from the United States
and arrival/departure for Indonesia.
Applicants must also
submit three most recent bank statements that show sufficient funds to support themselves
during their visit to Indonesia. These must be originals, and if possible,
should include the last few months of activity as well as a recent balance.
In order to ensure
that your documents are received by the embassy or consulate promptly, you must
submit all documents at the time of your appointment. It is important to bring
a printout of the completed application with you to your appointment.
